Project Overview: Personal development project is the final project of fourth quarter in skill for life. This project mainly focus on the improvement of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skill.
Interview skillsIn the interview skills section of this project, I researched about the techniques, skills, and answers to a certain question that were frequently used in either job or university interview. There is two interviews, one at the beginning and one at the end of the project. Between these two interview, I need to find ways to improve my weakness and develop useful interview skills. Goal settingIn goal setting section of project, I have to set two goal about emotional intelligence which mentioned above. In order to achieve these goals, I wrote priority chart and reflection everyday. Through this process, although I didn't reach the expectation I want, I can still learn skills those are useful. Two goals: 1. Overcome Procrastination 2. Let people feel respected when they talked to me Personal statementIn the personal statement, I selected NYU Stern School of Business as my dream university. Hence, my personal statement is based on this school. Due to the recommendation of number of words, I wrote approximately 700 word. The application process of university in USA will start around 4 to 5 months later, so prepare a draft or even a product is useful for me. I try to put my passion and enthusiasm to business into this personal statement, and I try to make every sentence is written with my maximum ability. I did get some help from teachers, online websites, friends, and family members, but most of these help are about the structure instead of the content. I write in total 2 drafts and a final product, there is not many difference between these three personal statement, I changed only the transition sentences, word choices, inappropriate grammar, and a few unsuitable sentences. The first and second draft is included in the process journal.

At the beginning of 2017, I, as a skill for life students, started a project that I never do before, that's "Self-directed Learning project". This project require no one else instead of yourself, you need to be your own teacher and teach yourself the knowledge you want to know. The process of this project is as followed: Choose a topic, then do some brainstorm about it, write down a mind map will be a good idea, After select the topic, go online and find some reliable source to read and to learn the new knowledge, as I read more and learn more, I have to write down the questions I know I don't know and I don't know I don't know on learning records, those are papers I used during self study. In the middle of the project, I wrote a product and a mind map that I can use to compare with what I know before and after.After the learning process finished, I wrote another mind map and product, those conclude most of the thing I learned during this project. In this project, my learning goal is to write an argumentative essay, the reason I chose this topic is because my writing skill is not enough to write and read university level paper, and I'm already grade 11, only one and half year until I get into an university, so I thought I need to improve my writing skill. Here are all the products, mind maps, learning records, etc. I did in this project. First, I want to show my learning records, these records recorded most of the thing I learned during this project, which is very important because it shows the knowledge I learned in the straightest ways. This is the argumentative essay I did before I start the project, which showed my skill level at that time. This is the first mind maps which i did in the beginning of this project, which also showed my skill level, and also what I know about argumentative essay. Second mind map, I did this in half way of this project, this is use to track the things I learned in first half project. This is a body paragraph I did at the same time I did second mind map, just a little try on how much did I develop my writing skill. At last, my FINAL PRODUCT. To show how much I develop my writing skill, I wrote an argumentative essay, even though it is about global warming, but the main goal is to show how much I learned in this project, to show it, I use most of the skill and technique I learned. REFLECTIONIn second quarter of G.11, I did a project from Skill for life, about nutrition, which is control the diet and try to be healthy based on the plan which my partner Chen made for me for 1 week, also I need to make one healthy diet plan for him. The result is very impressive. Even it is only 1 week, I already started feel better with my insomnia, and didn't feel sleepy during daytime.
Up there, those are some data I collect about my diet in that week and reflection from me on this project. In the reflection, that shows that I am a strategic learner, because in the reflection, I reflected my diet process, listed mistakes I made in this project and a few way to improve those mistakes. |
